Updated: Aug 1

"Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in

order to look at things in a different way."

- Edward de Bono

I am so excited to share my new 10 Week Group Somatic Coaching Programme with you, and this blog post aims to provide an overview of what's involved.

Group Somatic Coaching can be a wonderful place for connection, guidance and accountability, with setting goals or intentions for your own wellbeing, moving forward in your life and having someone to witness the chaos that life can throw at us.

Sometimes we don't know where to start, or we reach a fork in the road with our wellbeing / healing journey, and we can get stuck behind our own self-limiting beliefs and ingrained habits that we feel keep holding us back.

It can be frustrating, especially when our mind won't quit being mean to us!

We often forget the important role our nervous system plays and how our experiences are felt within our physiology; our mind is telling the story of how we feel on a Somatic level, and this plays a big role in how we see, feel, think, act and talk to ourselves.

And FYI our minds aren't being mean, they're being over-protective!

If we can change the state of our physiology, perhaps by not holding on so tightly or rigidly, by allowing a little space, freedom and curiosity, we can start to change the beliefs, feel safe, loosen the strings of our inner protectors and remember there is creativity, vibrancy and life within us.

Welcome to EMBODY YOUR JOY!

The Vision Behind "Embody Your Joy"...

The Embody your Joy 10 Week programme aims to provide a safe, supportive and inclusive space for Women to explore their creativity, discover the important role that play and joy has on our nervous system, and guide you to feel empowered to use Movement, Art and Creativity, as a way of connecting with your innate Playful, Joyful and Expressive Soul.

YES, YOU DO HAVE ONE!

If you've ever attended one of my (Yoga & Art) workshops, you'll know that this is a running intention throughout because I believe it's important for adults to make time for play, silliness, self-expression and art. It makes me sad to think that adults feel they aren't allowed to be silly, or creative or do something just for the fun of it.

We are often told to 'grow up' and that is actually really stifling!

What does it even mean to be grown up and who decided being grown up or an adult should be less creative or fun?

In our modern world, it also feels like everything that we do or create has to be shared on social media, finished to perfection, sold or validated in some way by other people. If we don't share our crafts (or even our Yoga practice) did we even do it? Does it count? What was the point in doing it if no one sees it?

What if we used our creativity, play and self-expression as part of our personal wellbeing / healing journey, rather than something you come to every now and then, when you feel great or have an hour to do it? What if we felt ok keeping it private and knowing that we don't need to share it or have it validated?

What if creative expression was integral to your life?

Surely we've all heard how important movement, art and creativity is for our wellbeing, however most of the time we don't see them as a priority. Even the things we know are important, like keeping our bodies healthy to support our minds, we don't prioritise it!

Creative Self-expression is incredibly important for;

  • Our Self-Development and Growth.

  • Building Internal and External Awareness.

  • Imagination.

  • Lateral thinking

  • Figuring out who we are.

  • Who we want to be in the world and what we can offer.

  • Processing, Regulating and Stabilising our emotions.

  • Allowing us to see things with new and varied perspectives.

Play, meaning “to engage in activity for enjoyment and recreation rather than a serious or practical purpose,” is also very beneficial for....

  • Reducing Stress and Anxiety / Stabilising our Nervous System.

  • Improving Brain Function.

  • Increasing Confidence and Trust.

  • Boosts your Imagination and Creative / Lateral Thinking

  • Connecting you to your inner child.

Yet, we don't do it.

But let's not be hard on ourselves or berate ourselves for this. We have a lot of societal pressures to unlearn and being mean to yourself isn't going to help!

Empowerment Through Movement, Art, and Creativity

Over the 10 weeks, this programme aims to instil some incredibly supportive practices within you, to help deepen your connection to yourself and the creative, joyful parts of you that might get shut away, ignored or underused for a variety of reasons.

It's time to feel empowered to make choices that will properly guide you through the chaos of life, unravel the ingrained and outdated beliefs and establish some radical self-compassion and inner confidence.

This is how we stay connected to our inner joy!

The Programme Experience; Safety, Community and Accountability

A picture taken from above of a community of women showing their paint covered hands.

My aim is for you to be seen, heard and gently encouraged throughout this programme; to help you to feel safe enough to try the practices on offer, build your curiosity and start to ask 'what is possible here, with where I am, who I am and what I have available to me'.

You will have the choice and opportunity to share your thoughts and experiences, and use this small online community as an additional support network!

There will be 8 Live Sessions, and 2 'Integration Weeks' for Resting and Reflecting. You will receive some recorded practices that encourage more rest!

The programme itself will aim to support you with foundational tools for exploring and sensing safety, connection and creativity from within and being curious about where and what your inner Joy stems from. We will explore creative movement, arts or crafts and understand how to work with the Wisdom of the Inner Child, alongside other parts that show up to protect us.

This is about giving yourself permission to explore with curiosity and radical self-compassion!

Wonderful Words from previous clients...

This is my first time running a group coaching programme, however here are some wonderful words from 1-1 coaching clients and others who have worked with me over the years and gained so much from my Yoga, Somatics & Arty offerings!

"I’ve loved reconnecting with my intuition and helping to work through, what was a really traumatic experience, into something that was much more dreamy and hopeful, to shift my body out that place, (protection, fight / flight) and helping me to reconnect with safety techniques to support me to do that."

"Somatics has been HUGE for me. I have lost a half a stone from being less stressed, literally didn’t change a thing, no exercise, no change in diet! I am way less stressed and anxious, if something is bothering me now I just feel like ‘sod it’, its not all consuming like it was. Before starting the coaching plan with you I was fully in hermit mode, whereas now I am socialising again and even dating. I can even drive on the motorway again, without feeling anxious. I feel way more free now. I feel safe again. And this is HUGE for me!

I feel like I can accept myself a lot more now."
